HRUFC establishing a mixed ability rugby union team

Halifax Rugby Union Football Club want to introduce their new initiative to try and make contact rugby accessible to all. They are establishing a new mixed ability rugby union team which will be made up of players both with and without disabilities. This will be one of only three teams in the country and as such this is an extremely exciting time in the clubs history. The primary aim is to create a competitive but fun environment that challenges everyone who takes part. There will be a focus on developing new skills and promoting a healthy lifestyle, both in terms of improving fitness and mobility, in addition to the obvious social benefits that come as part of being involved in what is a superb community sports club.

They are encouraging anyone who is interested or wishes to find out more about mixed ability rugby to do one of the following things:

Halifax Mixed Ability Rugby PosterTurn up at their free taster session at Halifax RUFC on Saturday 19th of January at 12.30. The aim of this session is to provide an opportunity for people to come and see the club and speak to the people involved. There will also be a short training session for anyone who wishes to take part, you do not need any prior experience of rugby just bring along a spare change of clothes and they would advise wearing loose sports clothing with either trainers or boots. If you need to borrow some kit that is fine but please contact them in advance so they can organise correct sizes. See the attached flyer for more details.
Read the testimony of players (attached below) and visit the website of their partner team the Bumble Bees Barbarians
Give Stuart Hill a call and he will do my best to answer any questions.  Stuart is part of the coaching team at Halifax, his mobile number is 07882 014799; alternatively you can contact Debbie Greenwood who is a Sports Development Officer for Calderdale on 01422 246740

This is an unmissable opportunity to take part in an exciting sport and develop key skills within the Rugby Football Unions core values of Teamwork, Respect, Sportsmanship, Discipline and Enjoyment.
