Healthwatch update – Local events & information sessions

Drop-in sessions – changes to hospital and community services in Huddersfield (various dates)

A series of drop-in sessions are being staged across Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield over the coming three months.  These will help people get more information about the Calderdale and Huddersfield Health and Social Care Strategic Review and provide an opportunity for people to take part in the public discussion about the future of local health and social care services.

This is part of a comprehensive engagement process with a wide range of stakeholders – including patients, staff and local people – to help options for full public consultation in mid to late summer of this year.

A range of health and social care professionals will be on hand and people are welcome to drop-in for a tea or coffee and a chat anytime during those hours.

Make a noise in libraries

 A two week programme of events for the blind and visually impaired held in libraries across Kirklees. MANIL is a national event, held every year to promote public library services for blind and visually impaired customers.

Self Management for Carers

Gateway To Care are providing free Self Management Support to carers – in the form of a once monthly Self Management course.

The next session will take place on Thursday 22nd May (10am-12:30pm) at Dewsbury Town Hall, followed by another on Monday 7th July (10am-12:30pm) at Huddersfield Town Hall.  The aim of the course is to help carers look after their own health needs and will cover: relaxation techniques, dealing with tiredness, difficult emotions,  wellbeing, coping with depression,  working with professionals and planning for the future.

First Aid Training – courses from Saturday 24th May 2014, 2 – 4.30pm

Free First Aid Training – provided by Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust

Our first aid training is free to attend, can help you learn basic life support skills and is delivered by one of our highly experienced and qualified trainers.

  • Gain new skills and be ready if you ever need to help friends and family in an emergency.
  • Learn more about your ambulance service.
  • Receive a certificate to add to your work or education portfolio.
