May contain nuts – Free Creative Arts Festival Friday 10th July

Friday 10th July

FREE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS 2015

After last year’s success May Contain Nuts is back, this time in several locations in Huddersfield town centre to celebrate great local independent businesses & their passion for the arts.  (Please note that this festival is a general open event and is not specifically for children.)

2PM | Hoot Creative Arts, Bates Mill, HD1 3DX
The Mardy Gras
Hoot’s Batley based music group, ‘Another Planet’, mutates into a parading augmented kazoo and percussion ensemble with a bizarre take on New Orleans jazz – imagine Louis Armstrong was born in a parallel universe. Join us for the trip, kicking off at Hoot at 2pm & appearing throughout the day between other performances, taking us from one venue to the next.

2:30PM | Coffeevolution | 8 Church St
Original & moving poetry readings from the talented members of The Write Stuff.

4PM Vinyl Tap | 42 John William St
Hoot’s Guitar Orchestra premieres their Mariachi inspired suite & more.

5:30PM | Café Ollo, The Media Centre | 7 Northumberland St
An opportunity to see an outstanding, thought provoking exhibition of work produced in the first year of Going Sane? Videos, music, installation, poetry, performance, photography and more – for one evening only.

Hoot Creative Arts is a flourishing arts health organisation offering people the opportunity to get involved in music, dance & other creative activities as a way of improving physical & emotional wellbeing.

Going Sane? is a two year Hoot project which places artists with different artforms into organisations across Kirklees, to explore ideas around sanity & madness.www.goingsane.co.uk
